A guide to keep your rugs looking great!
There are many ways to deal with stains. First, you should scoop up as much as possible of the affected area with a blunt knife or spoon. Then, dilute the area with water. However, be careful not to soak the stained area, as this could accidentally spread the stain. With a cloth, gently work from the outside of the stain to the center and continue until the stain is gone.
Move your furniture that’s been in the same place for years, and what do you have there? A crushed pile. How do you get your pile to sit upright again? You'll need a soft brush and some water, just enough to dilute the area. Moisten the affected area and then gently brush the pile. Repeat until restored.
In order to keep your rug fresh while in storage or just tucked away somewhere, you’ll need to wrap it in fabric. If the rug is not properly wrapped and stored, it is prone to rot or mildew if stored in a damp or humid area. Wrapping your rug will allow the rug to breathe and will result in longer life expectancy.
Padding is very important when purchasing a rug. It can double your rugs lifespan by protecting it from dirt, wear, wrinkles and slippage, especially in high traffic areas. Rug pads hold the rug in place, reduce wear and tear by not allowing it to slip, keeps dirt and grit away from the foundation of the rugs, helps in preventing mold and mildew, and keeps rugs from discoloring your floor. Pads provide air to prevent issues such as mildew and moths.
All rugs should be vacuumed regularly to remove dirt and grit.
